Speaking of Poker Tells
Poker tells are behavior, habit and physical reaction to things that happens around them. Poker tells give players important information about their opponent's hand.
The following are the most popular poker tells:
1. Watch the Eyes
Eyes don't lie. That is why many professional poker players wear sunglasses while playing poker. This is to hide their emotions and reactions. If players can't wear sunglasses, they wear caps or visors instead.
2. Facial Expression
Most poker players want to hide their emotions and reactions that is why they wear something that can hide their face, or sometimes they intend to look downward often. Most professional poker players stare at novice players to get some information from them; they usually study the face of their opponent, if they have a good or bad hand.
3. Strong is Weak and Weak is Strong
Basically, poker players are playing like actors. They want to lead other players into false information. Like if they are having a bad hand, they act like they have a strong hand and vice versa. This is also the reason why poker players learn to bluff.
4. Anxiety
Anxiety is when a person is experiencing a misfortune. Like when they are confronted or they are expecting a confrontation. Then players will response in a "Flight or Fight" manner.
Anxiety can be detect through physical changes like palpitating heart rate, flexing of muscles, dry throat and eye pupil dilation.
Anxiety can mean two things; the player is holding a very strong hand or a very bad hand.
5. Trembling Hands
Trembling hands happen also from a person suffering from anxiety attack. Hands that are shaking so badly can mean a very strong hand.
6. Glancing at chips
This has something to do with the movement of the eyes. If players are unconsciously looking at their chips they are planning an attack.
7. Looking at Hole Cards on Flop
Most poker players tend to take a peek often at their cards if the board is having a 3 potential card flush draw. He is looking at his card to see some connections.
8. Continual betting pattern
This is the most obvious poker tell. A player is normally doing some action again and again for example a fold after their bet was re-raised. This done over and over by a player in specific circumstances is a tell.
9. Attitude and Body Posture
Most players tend to change their behavior according to their hand. If they have a strong hand, they tend to be overconfident, but if they have a weak hand they tend to be meek.
Not only has their attitude changed according to their hands but also their body position. Players with weak hand usually slump and shoulders down. But if they have a strong hand they sit erect and become more attentive.
10. Chip Stacking
The way players stack their chips show something about their personality. A loose aggressive type of players normally has an unorganized stack of chips. Players that are tight conservative type maintain their chips neatly stacked.
